Care+
Five years, not two.
An optional plan that extends cover, adds yearly servicing, and puts a replacement battery in years three to five.
Read this first
You have rights under the Australian Consumer Law that apply to every Seraphin whether or not you buy Care+. Those rights are automatic, they cost nothing, and for a product like a wheelchair they can last longer than any standard warranty.
Care+ is in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. It does not replace them, limit them, or shorten them.
We say this at the top rather than in small print at the bottom because extended warranties that quietly resell rights you already have are a real problem in this industry, and the regulator treats them as one. Everything Care+ includes is something the law does not already give you — preventive servicing, a battery replacement, priority handling, on-site callouts. If a part fails because it was faulty, you are covered by law, with or without a plan.
What’s standard, and what Care+ adds
Every chair comes with the standard Seraphin warranty. Care+ picks up where it stops.
The standard Seraphin warranty is two years on the frame and one year on motor and battery. Your Australian Consumer Law rights sit alongside all of this and may extend beyond year five depending on what a reasonable person would expect from a product at this price.
The four plans
Which one applies depends on what your chair cost. You buy it once, at the same time as the chair or within 30 days of delivery.

What it covers, and what it doesn’t
The second list matters more than the first. No plan covers everything, and a plan that claims to is worth being suspicious of.
Covered
- Motor and controller failure in years 3 to 5
- Frame defects for the full five years
- One preventive service a year
- Battery replacement, included or discounted by tier
- Joystick and electronics faults
- Priority parts from our held spares
- On-site callout on the top two tiers, in metro areas
- One accidental damage incident on Care+ HD
Not covered
- Wear items: tyres, cushions, upholstery, brake pads
- Damage from misuse, modification or repair by someone else
- Water damage from immersion
- Loss or theft
- Battery capacity declining with normal use and age
- Damage in airline transit — that’s the carrier’s liability
- Cosmetic marks that don’t affect function
- Chairs taken permanently outside Australia
Funding it through the NDIS
If you’re a self-managed or plan-managed participant, Care+ can often be funded from the repairs and maintenance part of your plan rather than out of pocket. It’s a maintenance and servicing arrangement for assistive technology, which is a recognised support category.
We quote it as its own line item, separate from the chair, so your plan manager can see exactly what it is and what it costs. Whether it’s approved is a decision for the NDIS, not for us — but a clearly described line item is far more likely to get through than one bundled invisibly into a chair price.
Questions
- Can I add Care+ later?Within 30 days of your chair being delivered. After that we can’t, because a plan bought after a fault has appeared isn’t a warranty — it’s a claim.
- Do I need it?Not necessarily. If you use your chair lightly and are comfortable paying for a repair if one comes up, the Australian Consumer Law already protects you against faulty goods. Care+ is worth it if you use the chair daily, if being without it for a fortnight would be a serious problem, or if you’d rather have a predictable cost than a possible one.
- What happens when I claim? Most faults on these chairs are a part — a controller, a joystick, a motor, a battery. We send the part and talk you or a local technician through fitting it. If that isn’t practical, the chair goes to a workshop on the mainland.
- How long do repairs take?Part swaps are usually a few days once the part is with you. Bench repairs take longer because the chair has to travel. The top two tiers include a loaner where one is available.
- Is it transferable if I sell the chair?Yes. Tell us the new owner’s details and the remaining cover moves with the chair.
- Can I get a refund?Within 30 days of buying it, if you haven’t claimed. After that it isn’t refundable, in the same way an insurance premium isn’t.
Care+ is a service contract offered by Seraphin, not an insurance product, and it is offered in addition to the consumer guarantees you have under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing here limits or replaces those guarantees, which apply automatically and may continue beyond the term of this plan. Full terms are provided before purchase and with your order confirmation. If you think something is faulty, contact us regardless of whether you hold a plan.
