NDIS

A quote, usually by tomorrow.

If you’re self-managed or plan-managed, you can buy from us. Here’s exactly what you need and how long it takes.

Can you buy from us?

This depends entirely on how your plan is managed. We’d rather tell you now than after you’ve filled in a form.

Yes

Self-managed

You pay us directly and claim it back through the portal. You can buy from any supplier, registered or not. We’ll give you an invoice with the right details on it.

Yes

Plan-managed

Your plan manager pays us on your behalf. They can pay unregistered suppliers, so we send them the invoice and you don’t handle the money.

Not yet

Agency-managed

The NDIA pays registered providers only, and we aren’t registered. We can’t take agency-managed funding today. We’re working toward registration, and we’ll say so here when it changes.

If you’re not sure which applies to you, it’s written in your plan, or your plan manager or support coordinator can tell you in a sentence.

What the NDIS needs before it funds a powerchair

Powered mobility is assistive technology, and above $1,500 it needs an assessment. That’s the part that takes time, so it’s worth starting before you choose a chair.

  1. An assessment by an occupational therapist or physiotherapistThey assess what you need and why. This is required for powered mobility at this price point — there’s no way around it, and no supplier can skip it for you.
  2. A written recommendationYour therapist writes up why this equipment is reasonable and necessary for your situation. This is the document the NDIS actually reads.
  3. A formal quote from usLine-itemed, with the model, specifications and price. This is the part we handle, and it’s usually back with you within one business day.
  4. Submission and approvalYou or your plan manager submits. Timeframes vary considerably — weeks rather than days is normal.
  5. We shipOnce funding is confirmed, the chair leaves our factory. Allow 8 to 12 working days for delivery.

What we give your therapist

A full specification sheet for any model you’re considering — weights, dimensions, safe working load, battery ratings, folded size, turning circle. The figures a therapist needs to justify a recommendation, in a format they can attach.

Ask for it in the form below and we’ll send it whether or not you buy from us. A therapist who can’t get specifications can’t write a recommendation, and that helps nobody.

Questions we get asked

  • Do I need an OT assessment? For a powerchair at these prices, yes. Powered mobility above $1,500 requires assessment by an occupational therapist or physiotherapist. This isn’t a Seraphin rule.
  • Can you do the assessment? No. We sell equipment; we don’t provide assessments or therapy. Your therapist should be independent of the supplier.
  • Are you an NDIS-registered provider? No. Self-managed and plan-managed participants can still buy from us — registration only matters for agency-managed funding.
  • Can Care+ be funded from my plan?Often, from a repairs and maintenance budget. We quote it as a separate line item so your plan manager can see exactly what it is. Whether it’s approved is up to the NDIS.
  • How long does the whole process take? Our part is a day. The assessment and approval are the long parts and vary widely. Start earlier than feels necessary.

We’re a supplier, not an adviser, and nothing here is advice about your plan. NDIS rules and support categories change — check current requirements with your therapist, plan manager or support coordinator, or at ndis.gov.au. We can’t guarantee any particular item will be funded.
